Our project investigates and reports on different approaches to sustainable fashion. London Fashion Week went green this year, implementing sustainability requirements for participating brands. CEO of the British Fashion Council states that it was a crucial step towards making sustainability a fundamental aspect of the future of fashion (Shoaib, 2025). This inspired us to explore the growing relevance of sustainability in the fashion industry.
Between 2015 and 2030, a forecasted increase of 63% in global clothing consumption is expected, leading to the production of low-quality garments with short lifespans, known as fast fashion (GFA and BCG, 2017).
As the concept of fast fashion continuously grows, we continue to condone poor working environments, low wages, and the planet's pollution (Olivar Aponte et al., 2024). Due to this, paying attention to being eco-friendly and buying from brands that value sustainability is essential. We attended and reported on various sustainable fashion events, initiatives, markets, and brands making a difference in the industry. We focus on second-hand, vintage, and upcycled clothing as some choices that reduce environmental impact. Additionally, we will interview industry experts and those working at markets and in stores for their opinions to gain further insight into consumer habits.
Our live reports aim to raise awareness and promote conscious consumer choices by showcasing a responsible and ethical approach to fashion in a culture heavily focused on quantity over quality.
